Audiotonas has installed a sophisticated video projection and sound system in this room, where science popularization and virtual reality events will be held on a wide variety of topics and in different scenarios. The dome-shaped room of the planetarium has an 11 meteres diameter spherical screen, onto which eight high-definition video projectors project a wide variety of video content, accompanied by the broadcasting of spatial Dolby surround sound information. In the center of the room, a group of spectators, sitting in comfortable special chairs adapted to the specifics of the planetarium, can enjoy impressive images and engaging music or stories on a wide variety of topics in the field of astronomy, nature education, geography, science or entertainment. The planetarium’s computer system database contains a huge amount of various content from all over the world, and there is also the possibility of broadcasting real-time and real images from space or any place in the world. During the events, viewers will have the opportunity to virtually “travel” through outer space and see all the constellations, planets, other space objects or view the Earth from outer space or feel virtually weightless.
The planetarium screen can display more than 7,000 fixed stars, variable stars, the Milky Way galaxy with three million stars and other moving astronomical and celestial bodies using various technical methods. In order to create an extremely realistic image of black outer space and numerous stars close to reality, the projection is combined using a special Japanese manufacturer GOTO optical star projector “Starball” and supplementing the overall image with information transmitted by eight high-resolution CANON video projectors from the planetarium’s computer data storage and directly from the Internet from various open astronomical information databases in the world.
In addition to its main activities, the planetarium space is adapted for various events: educational classes, lectures, presentations or entertainment programs. Additional equipment used for events – programmable artistic lighting, wireless microphones, a sound mixing console and a surround music system – allows you to organize engaging and interactive events.
