Modern lecture hall technology in SMK building

2014 In September, the College of Social Sciences (SMK) opened its doors to students, housed in a new, modern building with well-planned spaces for science, work, and communication. Inspired by innovative ideas, the SMK team has formulated a task for Audiotonas professionals to design and install an automated audio-visual system for their auditoriums.

The basis of the system is Crestron automated control processors and software Fusion RV, which is specially designed for educational institutions to make system management as efficient, economical and simple as possible for the average user.

A total of 32 auditoriums, 2 meeting rooms and a conference hall were installed. All system components are connected to a unified network. With the help of Fusion RV program it is possible to manage connected devices, monitor their technical condition and analyze the collected data. There is also the ability to receive real-time system fault notifications. The established auditorium usage schedule not only saves electricity and human resources, but also prolongs the service life of the equipment used.

Each auditorium is equipped with a Crestron control keyboard with an integrated processor. The keyboard buttons are programmed according to the scenarios selected for the lectures – the computer is switched on, the sound, projectors and screens are controlled.

Depending on the size and purpose of the audience, high-quality NEC projectors with an integrated Crestron Roomview Connected function were selected. This feature allows you to communicate directly with a Crestron Fusion RV server on a computer network. Small auditoriums are equipped with Short Throw NEC projectors and a new generation of Projecta projection and writing boards.

Kramer video signal switches are used to control the video system, with the help of which all necessary signals of video sources are combined and converted. Kramer cable boxes with the necessary audio-video cables are provided for connecting a laptop, media player or other mobile device to the podium or the teacher’s desk. Active AMC acoustic systems are installed for audible audiences.

The power supply of the audio-video equipment in the auditoriums is also managed centrally. With the help of Crestron controllers, each device can be switched on or off at the desired time and remotely, which helps to save significant energy.

The large conference hall is equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system. The system is based on the Martin Audio modular acoustic system with Line Array technology, which consists of two eight-module acoustic systems that create an ideally equal sound pressure level at any listener in the hall. The technical capabilities of the system allowed to adjust the direction of sound propagation according to the architectural layout of the hall, acoustic parameters and to achieve a very high level of speech intelligibility and high-quality music reproduction. High-quality sound is enhanced by Martin Audio subwoofers mounted on the front of the stage.

The sound components of the conference hall – microphones, players, amplifiers, speakers – are integrated into a common system and are controlled by the BIAMP processor. Da Vinci software is used to control processors, change parameters and analyze data. The operator’s workplace is equipped with consoles for the control of sound and lighting equipment, a CD player.
